President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.

White House Offer

The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Attendees gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist public safety in the capital.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that teachers desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her alma mater, informed the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the administration to halt asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey said on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
