Ten individuals convicted of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the couple's significant age difference.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A circulating false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she taught at his high school.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
